We're looking for an experienced tech leader that will manage a team of developers and that will bring some expertise to the table.

What you would do

As a Perl Lead Developer, you will be part of an international team (Belgium, Canada, France, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia) that is responsible for a number of applications supporting cross-border trade and logistics. The highlight is expanding & maintaining the core Duty & Tax calculation engine that supports complex business models & consolidates many services as support.

Key Responsibilities

Technical leadership of a development team
Developing and improving the systems under his/her responsibility
Working with Product department and various stakeholders on setting goals, planning resources and maintaining technical vision of the product domain
Managing cross-team projects when necessary
Developing back end services and API's in Perl (Mojolicious)
Maintaining, enhancing and creating new solutions on our platforms
Implementing continuous integration and metrics to monitor the applications
Providing operational support of the applications in production
You will be required to perform occasional on call duties once every other month

Tech stack:

Perl (Mojolicious), MySQL, ELK stack, Docker/Kubernetes, GitLab pipelines
Desired skills: Must Have

8+ years of recent product development experience
at least 3 years experience with Perl
leadership skills as represented by the ability to communicate efficiently, balance various engineering trade-offs, motivate the team, contribute to the development process, all in order to deliver new features while keeping the stability of the platform
experience with requirements analysis and system’s design
ability to work in a dynamic environment
excellent English language skills - both written and verbal
deep attention and understanding of product & business concerns
good problem solving skills
being driven and independent employee who takes responsibility for his work, from development to operational management; impact oriented work - you build it, you run it
Knowledge of git or other versioning systems

Nice to Have

experience working with Linux systems, automation tools and container services
frontend experience with React and native HTML/CSS/JS stack (the position is for backend developer, but occasional frontend adjustments are needed)
experience in SOA and message queues (like RabbitMQ)
knowledge of Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, ELB, EBS) and related GCP
experience with relational databases
